Spock vs Kirk

At least with the FIRST 2ww, waiting from retrieval to BFP, so much is going on, I was too distracted to stress all that much. First there’s the retrieval, the the fertilization report the next day, the the three day report, then the transfer, then the peeing on sticks, which thankfully, turned positive 4 days before my blood test. Then there was the peeing on the stick to make sure the line was getting darker. Then the first official blood test. Then the second. So it wasn’t so much a 2ww as a list of things to do within a two week period.

Between the blood test and the first ultrasound there is nothing.  It is nearly two and a half weeks of fret filled fun. What to fret about?  Well, let’s see….

Will there be a heartbeat?? Will there be TWO?  What if the one embryo that was “extra large” was actually extra large because it was busy splitting into twins? How will I get myself home if my husband runs screaming from the room and leaves me there if there is more then one?  Will it (they??)  be the correct size for how far along we are?

IVF jokes

Ran out of room in my sharps container for my PIO needles so grabbed a plastic bottle from recycling. It was completely full before I realized the irony of the situation. Its an empty bottle of prune juice.

Now I can’t stop giggling.

Second beta. 388. I think that’s a bit low for twins, so hopefully, it’s just one over achiever in there. May 24th is a looong time away. Just want to see that one healthy heartbeat.

The First Beta

Is 207. High for a singleton. Low for twins.

Now we wait until May 24th for the ultrasound to tell us more.

The thin blue line

We’re visiting friends up in the mountains. They have an amazing home on a lake, two beautiful kids and we’ve not caught up in ages, so it’s been a great distraction from the 2WW.

Monkey has been in heaven since the moment we arrived. Their kids are nearly 2, a girl, and nearly 6, a boy. Monkey is such a social creature that having two kids to follow around and interact with has been life altering for him. I’m not sure what he’s going to do today when we leave.

He has followed the boy around admiring all his AMAZING skills. HE CAN RIDE A BIG WHEEL. Monkey’s jaw dropped at this spellbinding feat. The boy would ride up to Monkey and announce “I’m back!” and Monkey would run up and jabber at him while lovingly stroking the handlebars. The boy would then announce “leaving” and Monkey would watch him ride off with stars in his eyes.

But that was nothing like the admiration he showed once the boy got his bouncy ball out. A huge ball?! With a handle??! That you sit on!!?! AND BOUNCE!!?!!!
